In view of the pandemic and to avoid crowds at Pension Disbursing Banks, the timeline for submission of Life Certificates was extended from November 30, 2020, to February 28, 2021. Moreover, to cater to the difficulties faced by very senior citizens aged 80 years and above, an exclusive window was provided from October 1 onwards to prevent a rush during November.

The global COVID-19 pandemic posed unprecedented challenges to all sectors, including pension disbursement. To safeguard the health and well-being of pensioners and avoid overcrowding at banks, the DoPPW took a proactive step by extending the timeline for Life Certificate submission. This extension ensured that pensioners had ample time to submit their certificates without risking their health.

Additionally, recognizing the specific challenges faced by very senior citizens aged 80 years and above, the government provided an exclusive window for Life Certificate submission from October 1 onwards. This measure was aimed at preventing a rush at banks during the regular November submission period, allowing senior citizens to submit their Life Certificates comfortably.
